When life gives you brownies, make coffee.

Angharad ‘Harry’ Russo has had a busy week. She’s fended off a swarm of pixies, battled blood-thirsty redcaps and put an end to a maniacal Fae prince hell-bent on eradicating the entire werewolf population. She’s also decided to open a coffee shop. Is it too much to ask for things to settle down so her life can go back to normal?

Apparently it is. As if being metaphysically bound to Cian Nash, the most aggravating yet desirable man she’s ever met, isn’t enough, Harry’s just found out that the Magister, the biggest, baddest vampire around, is her father. Talk about your daddy issues!
Harry just wants to concentrate on getting the coffee shop open, but between the freaky ghosts that keep haunting her and rogue vampires terrorizing the city, it looks like normal is a thing of the past.

This is book three of the Harry Russo Diaries. It is a stand-alone adventure with no cliffhanger. Intended for a mature audience.

Deadlocked The Harry Russo Diaries Book 3 edition by Lisa Emme Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I have read the first three books in this series. Each one has gotten worse. This one is almost a how-to guide for domestic abuse. This one is so offensive, I won't bother reading the forth book.

The good: I really like Harry, the protagonist. She's very caring with both her friends and strangers in need. She asserts herself to defend them. She has strong opinions. She works hard to run her own business. She's a bit confused about her self identity, but she's only 24. I like the world, and the interesting characters she lives with or befriends. I like much of their dialog. The pacing and action are pretty good.

The bad: Nash, the boyfriend, is a very unpleasant caricature. He's handsome, and has chiselled abs. However, his personality is a motley collection of the worst traits men can have. He's paranoid, jealous, and possessive to the point of psychosis. He is extremely aggressive, and takes whatever he wants through force. He is incapable of understanding "No" as an answer. He reacts to any opposition or slight with insane bouts of rage and physical violence. He's not very intelligent, but his arrogance prevents him from even noticing anyone else's warnings, advice or ideas. He assumes he can give orders to everyone, without having any qualifications. Although 46 years old, he behaves like a spoiled child. He has obviously never worked for anything in his life, even his muscular physique is the result of being born a werewolf, not hard work. The character is two dimensional. His only interest is in possessing Harry. He has no other hobbies or friends. His work as a cop is almost never mentioned, and then used only as a plot device.

The ugly: Their "relationship" is grossly unhealthy. His attraction to her is pure obsession, not love. Her attraction is purely physical. He seeks to possess her, not be with her. He has no interest in learning anything about her, nor in sharing anything. He grants her absolutely no respect, ignoring her desires and choices. He makes life-changing decisions for her, without consulting her. Through his pigheaded rejection of her advice, he repeatedly places her in danger. He orders her around, and punishes disobedience with intimidation, browbeating, or in one case physical spanking. On one occasion, he handcuffs her to a crate in the middle of a fight. A little mutually agreed upon ass slapping can be OK during amorous activities. However, he forces her into BDSM. He cannot comprehend that "No" means "No", and he ignores her complaints about going beyond her boundaries. The only thing that differentiates his actions from kidnapping and rape is that she seems to enjoy it and forgive him afterwards. If she had not acquiesced, I have no doubt he would not have stopped, and ended up raping her. I quickly started wishing she would get a restraining order against him.

Deadlocked The Harry Russo Diaries Book 3 edition by Lisa Emme Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

I love this series! Harry is absolutely my type of a female hero. The story just gets better and better. Full of adventures with supernaturals, constant unexpected twist and turn with Salvador. The best part of all, I truly enjoyed reading Harry and Nash's ongoing romance/relationship. It"s never boring. Can't wait for the next book.
Enjoyed the series. Harry is an interesting blend of all the influences that made her who she is. The plots were interesting. The reveal about her parentage thrilling. The relationship between Harry and Nash scintillating, complex and fun. I hope there will be more additions to the series. ZMMR
I really enjoyed this book, Harry learns about herself a lot in it and we see areas of the world beyond the town the story takes place in. I love Harry and Cian and I understand her being afraid of the mating situation. I would also to go to this Cafe of Harrys. There is fighting and drama and lots of cuddling between Harry and Cian but you also find a lot about her family as well and about how much her father really cares for her even if she has a hard time believing it. I can not wait for the next book.
I read the first two books in the series, totally adored them, and had to get this one too. This one is a keeper also. This series are a very entertaining urban fantasy read. The characters are believable. You simply have to cheer the heroine on. The world building works even with the many different characters. Adult romance content. I hope there is another one coming soon.
For context I am a comfortably middle aged female reader.
What a great series, fabulous world building, interesting characters and an outstanding story. Harry is portrayed as a strong independent woman and faces many challenges, best of all she is compassionate and loyal. I am so looking forward to any future stories of Harry and her world. I would definitely recommend this book to any reader who enjoys a book that has a fabulous story without being overdone with sex scenes. I gave this series 5 stars because it kept me interested throughout, it had great emotional content that was real and it is a story which did not focus too much on the sex scenes. Sadly many great authors have their storylines heading into pure porn. I have immensely enjoyed Harry's journey and hope I don't have to wait too long for the next book.
I really like this series. Harry is funny and the interactions among the characters continue to evolve. Although there is humor, the plot contains darker themes. The author does a great job on Harry's inner monologue. It's laugh out loud funny. Also, Harry is a strong capable female. I like that her character can stand on her own and isn't looking to be rescued. I just reread the first three books and am moving on to number four. I revised my rating from four to five stars. I am hoping book 4 will be available in audio at some point.
Harry and Cian are mated. Having just found out Salvatore is her father, she wrestles with how to tell her mate. As her business is expanding, so are her bound vampires. The Mariposa, a female vampire from europe, descends on the city to try to take over the territory and take control of Harry, the first necromancer in centuries. Political intrigue, betrayal, new abilities, and lots of werewolf goings on. Oh, and our favorite were, Tess, gets to find her perfect match. Only caveat I see is that it could have been fleshed out more, a longer story. Nice and entertaining read.
